Embracing Environmental Sustainability in Interreg

General

Interreg is a driver of positive change. But could we do more to strengthen our position as a driver of sustainability? Is Interreg doing all it should to reduce our impact on our shared environment? How can we initiate and live sustainability in our daily work?
While Interreg programmes/projects assert compliance to legal sustainability obligations, they often struggle to translate these into meaningful behavioural change. Sustainability efforts can sometimes feel like mere checkboxes rather than catalysts for real change. However, there are signs of progress: programmes are offering recommendations for greener events, adjusting their behaviors, inspiring broader change, and developing innovative sustainability tools.
In this webinar, we will discuss how Interreg can go beyond legal obligations to drive sustainability and showcase best practices already being implemented by programmes. Our approach will be pragmatic, exploring the current sustainability practices, attitudes, challenges, and potential next steps within programmes.
