Marko works with consultations and strategic preparations for the post-2027 programming period. His tasks also include EU external cooperation , with a particular focus on the neighbourhood. He also contributes on the work of programmes bordering Russia and Belarus and the discussions on territoriality in Interreg.

Marko has experience as a Programme Director, having worked for many years in the Managing Authority of Karelia ENI CBC, ENPI CBC, Neighbourhood and Interreg programmes.
