ISO1 Key points to evaluate governance achievements taking a more holistic perspective (going beyond sector perspectives) 10:30 - 11:30 CET. Joining forces in evaluation: launching Interreg’s first evaluation pilots

Programme evaluation and indicators

Interact, in collaboration with dedicated Interreg programmes, is excited to announce the launch of the first three evaluation pilots before summer. Among these initiatives, one focuses on ISO1, exploring key aspects to evaluate governance achievements from a holistic perspective.

ISO1 marks a significant development within Interreg, boasting widespread popularity with approximately 90% of Interreg programmes selecting it. Recognized for its flexibility as a policy tool, ISO1 presents novel opportunities for programme implementation.

Engaging with ISOs often necessitates a tailored and strategic approach. Simply relying on bottom-up processes driven by open calls for project generation may not always align with addressing crucial topics or bridging essential gaps. Thus, there is a pressing need to deliberate on a more adaptable approach to ISOs from the outset, integrating it into the programm's framework.

Background information to the pilots

This pioneering initiative aims to bolster impact evaluations and foster the exchange of perspectives and methodologies among participating programmes. The pilot exercises will employ a bottom-up approach, allowing Interreg programmes to collectively select topics, methodologies, and key messages tailored to their specific needs and interests.

Objectives of the pilots:

·        Establishing Shared Understanding: Participating Interreg programmes will forge a shared understanding of aims, objectives, and desired outcomes.

·        Defining Common Evaluation Frameworks: They will define common evaluation questions, impact pathways, and core messages for communication to stakeholders and policymakers.

·        Agreeing on Unified Methods: Additionally, they will develop and agree upon a unified evaluation method and data collection process.

Join us to explore ISO1 and its implications. Your insights and participation are integral to shaping the future of Interreg programming.
